Looking for a Net Zero heating solution that meets your building’s needs and ticks your environmental objectives?

The answer lies in flexible, cost-effective and energy efficient heat pumps. Good to know that the most efficient solution will depend on the type of building you have.

Heat pumps don’t emit any direct carbon emissions and can provide heating from 40–160°C, and cooling, too. They are up to four times as efficient as outdated, energy hungry gas boilers.

Heat pumps generate more heat than they use and can lower your heating costs by up to 25%. As important, they produce 75% less carbon – and when combined with a Solar PV system, this increases to 100%!

Looking for upfront funding for your commercial heat pumps project?

Are you running a business with a traditional boiler?

You could get a capital grant of up to £7,500 to replace your boiler with a more efficient heat pump solution.
Contact Us to learn more about the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS).

Which Solution is best for your Building?

The most efficient solution will depend on several factors around the type of building and what you use the heat for.

Heat pumps are ideal for:

Schools
Leisure Centres

Offices

Retail Stores
Storage & Distribution

How do heat pumps work?

Air Heat Extraction
Heat pumps contain a refrigerant that absorbs heat from the outside air, and captures and stores heat energy.  They work in cold temps too!
Heat Compression
Absorbed heat is compressed (using a compressor) to increase its temperature and raised to a level suitable for heating or hot water usage.
Heat Distribution

The heated refrigerant is circulated through a heat exchanger, transferring warmth to the indoor heating or water system.

Cooling Mode
In the summer, the process is reversed. The heat pump extracts heat from your indoor air and transfers it outside, providing cooling in the same way.

Heat Pump FAQs

How do air source heat pumps (ASHP) work?
ASHPs work by absorbing heat from the outside air using a refrigerant. The refrigerant is then compressed to increase its temperature, and this heated refrigerant is circulated through a heat exchanger to warm your indoor space. In cooling mode, the system removes heat from the indoor air and expels it outside.
Yes, air source heat pumps can operate effectively in temperatures as low as -20°C. They are designed to extract heat from the outside air even in cold conditions, although efficiency may slightly decrease in extreme cold.
Yes, ASHPs can achieve efficiencies of up to 300%, meaning they can provide three units of heat for every unit of electricity consumed, making them a highly efficient choice for heating.
Benefits include reduced heating bills, lower carbon emissions, potential government incentives, and the ability to provide both heating and cooling from a single system.
Maintenance is relatively minimal but should include annual professional inspections, regular cleaning of the outdoor unit, and monitoring refrigerant levels to ensure optimal performance.
The installation of an air source heat pump typically takes between one to three days, depending on the complexity of the system and the specifics of the installation site.
ASHPs require outdoor space for installation. The specific size needed will depend on the unit and your property’s heating needs.
An ASHP generally has a lifespan of around 15 to 20 years, depending on usage, maintenance, and the quality of the installation.
Yes, ASHPs can be integrated with existing heating systems, such as radiators or underfloor heating, allowing for hybrid systems that maximize efficiency.
Yes, various government grants and incentives, such as the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, can help offset installation costs.
